Self-drive: Sydney, 733km
Drive time: 7 hours and 45 minutes.
Drive north on the M1 and Pacific Highway to Woodburn. Exit the highway onto Tuckombil Road, cross Woodburn Bridge and follow Forest Road until it meets Wyrallah Road. Turn right onto Wyrallah Road and follow it all the way to Lismore, enjoying the scenery along the way.

Self-Drive: Brisbane, 198km
Drive time: 2 hours and 20 minutes.
Head south on the M3 and M1 to Ewingsdale (west of Byron Bay). Take the exit towards Ewingsdale Road/Byron Bay/B62 from the M1. At the roundabout, take the fourth exit onto Myocum Road. At the next roundabout, take the first exit onto Hinterland Way/B62. Follow signs to Bangalow, then the Bangalow-Lismore Road/B62 to Lismore.
