1. Live Like a Local

  • Grab a copy of the free monthly Nimbin Good Times at various venues for a heads-up on all things Nimbin.

  • Attend the weekly Nimbin Farmers Market to pick up fresh local produce, great place to have dinner and meet up with the locals. Held every Wednesday 3pm-6pm next to The Green Bank (39 Cullen St).

  • Check out Nimbin Community Centre for What’s On featuring a range of classes and activities, learn from locals and feel part of the community.
  •  
  • Understand what makes Nimbin so unique and why it has attracted so many that have made Nimbin their home – Enjoy an immersive audio experience of place and community, featuring 18 story sites, throughout Nimbin village with the Nimbin Soundtrails.

2. Learn to live sustainably

  • Be inspired at 7 Sibley Street – Nimbin’s Sustainable Living Hub with weekly workshops and farm tours, demonstrations, garden tours, education on alternative building, plus access to a community tools library, plant nursery and seed exchange.

  • Visit Djanbung Gardens Permaculture Centre and take a tour of a living ‘learnscape’ of working permaculture systems and sustainability in action. Tours are available every Wednesday and Saturday between 10am and 3pm, bookings are essential, phone 02 6689 1755.

3. Alternative wellness

  • Invigorate your mind, body and soul in a region renowned for its natural therapies, with a yoga, acupuncture, reflexology, aromatherapy, massage, or reiki treatment.

  • Drop in and meet the team of wise women at Nimbin Apothecary. Their gorgeous store oozes wellness with load of locally grown and made lotions, potions, oils and more. A herbal dispensary, offering friendly knowledge and lifestyle and general health care advice.

The Nimbin Bush Theatre hosts numerous events, with regular Cacao Ceremonies and Sound Journey meditations, nourishing Yin Yoga and Crystal Bowl Sound Bath.

4. Get creative

  • Explore local artists’ work and enjoy lunch at Blue Knob Hall Gallery & Café while enjoying the view of the sacred Aboriginal landmark of Lillian Rock and Blue Knob. Check out their Exhibition Programme here.

  • The Blue Knob Ceramic Studio out the back offers 6 week courses in ceramics for a nominal price, and is open Thursday to Saturday from 10am to 3pm.
  •  
  • Visit the Nimbin Artists Gallery open 7 days and explore the creative wonders produced by of Nimbin’s amazing diversity of local artists. The studio is run by the artists themselves that volunteer and have works on display, it’s a great place to drop in and say hello, meet one of the locals, enjoy their talents and take home a special piece of Nimbin.

5. Escape in Nature

  • Take a 15 minute drive from Nimbin to Mount Nardi, in the Nightcap National Park to enjoy the Mount Matheson Loop and Pholis Gap Walking Track, both within the rainforest.
  •  
  • It’s a winding road through lush rainforest to get to Mount Nardi picnic area, but on arrival you’ll know it is well worth it. This picnic area is the highest point in Nightcap National Park, and the view through the clearings of the Northern Rivers district, taking in Lismore and Nimbin, is superb.
